Dynamic summary report
The dynamic summary report is the consolidated view you build: group by any dimension (including a custom field), pick the calculation columns, and read the total on a chart. In the menu it appears as Customizable summary; the screen title is Summary report.
Think of a pivot spreadsheet — or, at a high level, a BI slice — without leaving Rabbiit. Instead of exporting everything and pivoting in Excel, you set the grouping here and already see hours, %, cost, revenue, margin, budget, and capacity.
Menu Reports > Customizable summary.
💡 Money, margin, and budget columns depend on plan and permission. Anyone who only sees hours still uses grouping and the time columns.
What this report solves
August dynamic summary, with the invoiced chart and invoiced/uninvoiced columns
A question such as “how many hours (and how much value) for this client, broken down by project and then by person?”. You stack up to 5 groupings, turn on the columns, and export. For closing, slice the previous month and turn on the Invoiced / Uninvoiced columns — the third chart is invoiced status.
The detailed report lists each row. This one adds them up. Click a total to see the time entries behind that number.
Filters
The left column is the same as on the detailed report: period, project, task, client, user, manager, team, description, billed, and custom fields. The full list is in detailed report.
The filter cuts the base; grouping organizes what is left.
Group
The Groupings button (shows how many are active). Each level is a “group by”. Add group up to the limit of 5. Expand all / Collapse all opens or closes the layers.
Native dimensions:
- Date, week, month, year
- User, task, project, client, activity
List-type (enum) custom fields also enter the grouping — for example “cost center” or “contract type”, if the account registered them. The summary then follows your taxonomy, not only the default catalog. How to create and restrict these fields is in custom fields.
An empty group appears as “{{name}} empty” (no task, no client, no activity, and so on).
Charts
Show charts / Hide charts. There are three column charts (one at a time) and a donut chart beside them, with the hour distribution.
The column charts:
- Total hours — volume in the slice. Example in hours management.
- Financial progress — billable amount, costs, margin (for anyone who sees billing). Example in financial management.
- Billed status — billed versus still pending. Example in invoiced management.
The donut follows time for the same filter. Use the chart for the meeting slide; the table for the number that goes into the minutes.
Columns (about 30 calculations)
Under Columns, the blocks below. Not all of them appear for everyone — cost, revenue, and budget require permission.
Hour records
- Total hours — sum of durations in the group.
- Total hours % — that group’s share of the report total.
- Group hours % — share relative to the parent group (useful with several levels).
- Billable hours / Non-billable hours — slice by the billable flag.
Costs
- Total cost — internal cost of the group’s hours.
- Billable cost / Non-billable cost — the same, split by what is billable.
Revenue and fees
- Billable amount — what those hours are worth for billing.
- Fees and taxes — charges tied to the billable amount.
- Net revenue — billable after fees.
Margin and billing
- Margin — revenue minus cost (for anyone who sees profit).
- Margin % — the same relationship as a percentage.
- Billed / Unbilled — billable amount already marked (or not) as billed.
User details
- Email — the person’s email, when grouping goes through user.
Project budget (when the group has a project)
- Total budget, Consumed budget, Budget %, Remaining budget, Budget overrun, Budget type.
User capacity (when the group has a person)
- Total capacity, Consumed capacity, Capacity %, Remaining capacity, Capacity overrun.
Custom fields enter as detail columns (the field value on the group’s entity).
The practical benefit: close the month without building the table from scratch — hours, % of the team, what is still unbilled, and whether the project blew the budget, in the same slice.
Export
The dynamic summary has four outputs:
- Formatted Excel spreadsheet —
.xlsxwith formatted cells, all columns or only the visible ones. This is the export to keep pivoting in Excel. - Simplified CSV spreadsheet —
.csvwith no formatting; separator and hour format in preferences. - PDF print — automatic layout; only visible columns (maximum 9). PDF article.
- Excel print — the same print layout, in an editable
.xlsx.
Extra option on the summary: Hide filters in the header of the exported file — useful when the PDF goes to the client and the filter list does not need to go with it.
When to use
Use it at close, for a status to the board, and when the question changes the grouping (client → project → person).
Do not use it to edit a time entry or mark billed in bulk — go back to the detailed report.
