Date lock for time entries
In Rabbiit, you can configure a date lock to prevent time entries from being created or edited before or after a specific date. This helps keep time records intact and ensures entries are made in a timely way.
💡 Note: Only administrators have permission to edit date lock rules.
Accessing date lock settings:
In the profile menu, click Timesheet lock to open the settings.

Configuring the date lock
The date lock form has three main components that must be configured.

The screen shows a calendar with a preview of what stays editable or closed — including the current week and month. Use this preview before saving, so the team does not discover the lock only when they try to log hours.
Allow creating or editing entries whose date is: This field defines the date range allowed for creating or editing time entries. You can select from any date to specific ranges such as 1, 5, 15, or 30 days before today, or fixed dates from the previous month.
The options include:
- Any date
- Lock by fixed date
- Equal to the current date or later
- A day in the current week or later
- A day in the current month or later
- Up to 1, 5, 15, 30 days before the current date
- Up to the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th of the previous month
Who the date lock above applies to: Here you define which users are affected by the date lock. Options include all users, including administrators, project managers and regular users, or only regular users.
The options include:
- All users, including administrators
- Project managers and regular users
- Only regular users
Who can save entries with a future date: This field determines which users have permission to save time entries with future dates. Options range from no users to all users, including administrators and project managers.
The options include:
- Nobody
- Administrators only
- Project managers and administrators
- All users

When the date lock is configured, users can only select dates within the allowed period.

Lock when editing time entries
When the date lock is configured, users can only edit time entries whose date is within the allowed period. If they try to edit an entry outside the allowed period, the system shows a message with details of the lock rule.
